The Michael Grant Years
The Denny Corcoran Years
The Waterford Panto Society has been making Christmas magic in Waterford City since 1985.
The Society was founded in 1985 by Jimmy Kelly and Padraig O'Griofa. An inspired choice of Director - Denny Corcoran, the undisputed king of variety in Waterford City - drove the society from humble beginnings in 1985 to a major annual production running over 11 shows. Denny passed the baton onto Tops of the Town veteran Michael Grant who produced several shows before in turn passing it on to visionary producer Bryan Flynn. It was under Bryans watchful eye that the Panto came into the 21st century, raising the production standards in all departments.
In 2012 we were delighted to come full circle as Richie Hayes, star of the Gaeity Panto for countless years, took the helm of the society that started him off in the entertainment world all those years ago, as he drove on arguably our most successful show to date with a newly enlarged 17 show run to reach an even bigger audience.
In 2008 a change happened in the Society, as Jimmy and Padraig decided to retire after 23 years of total dedication to the cause. A new committee was born out of the members, and the rest is history. We are honoured to continue the tradition that our two founders started all those years ago.
Now 32 years on the Panto goes from strength to strength as it continues to establish itself as one of the premier Pantos in Ireland.
